With the announcement today that scientists using the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN are narrowing in on proving or disproving the existence of the Higgs boson, I thought folks might be interested to know that bicycles are used to performance maintenance in the 27km circular underground tunnel of the LHC. Check out the linked Youtube video for an LHC tour by bike - http://youtu.be/pd40XCh6OEo

great to see the collider - though pretty much as i imagined it, and i'm not blessed with a great imagination. That's got to be the most stultifying 27km bike path in the world. But, hey, no traffic!

When it's not being used to try find 'The God Particle', charge people admission to run, skate, ride bikes in there out of the rain and snow to help pay the thing off.
