Default Ride to Timberline???

Has anyone ridden to Timberline from Portland? Any experiences you'd like to share? I'm interested in attempting it. Thanks

Planning on doing this ride some time soon.
I haven't looked at a map to verify yet, but try this:
go to byCycle.org 's TripPlanner page for Portland:
http://tripplanner.bycycle.org/?region=Portland,OR

Copy and Paste this into the "To:" line under "Find a Route"
lon=-121.70723, lat=45.336219

This is the coordinates for Timberline Lodge.
Add your address for a starting address and wait for the Trip Planner to do it's thing.

Hope this helps!
I'll post a report if I do the ride in the next couple of weeks.

I've done this ride. If you're coming from town, suggest hooking up with Springwater out to Gresham, then Highway 26, up, up and up. Wide shoulders most of the way - not too bad. Better on weekdays of course. When nearly to Timberline road, just past the rest stop on the North, head left into the small local roadway. After a short distance turn left again onto Westleg road. This is the old Timberline road and is much more pleasant riding than the new road. It's a long climb, but very nice ride.

I have done this ride on a loaded tour over to Bend. Springwater to Boring over to 26. Busy road and boring. No great views. River City puts on a great ride in May you might like better.

There is a very nice network of roads that roughly parallels Hwy 26 to the north all the way up to Zigzag, which is only 5-10 miles from Timberline. They're much better than riding 26 the whole way, but hillier and a bit longer. Look on a map for details, but here's a rough description:

Springwater to the end of the pavement,
Continue on the road that paralles the Springwater (I forget the name.)
Left on Haley, cross Hwy 26
Left on Orient
First right (name?)
Left on Revenue
Right on Dodge Park
Right on Lusted
Road becomes Ten Eyck, pass Roslyn Lake
Left on Marmot
Left on Oregon Trail
Right on Lolo Pass Rd
