Default Bike-Music Festival Organizer for Portland

Hello Portland bikers,

I'm writing from the Pleasant Revolution Bicycle Music and Film Festival Tour 2011.

I invite you to consider becoming the bad-ass producer of a very unique, multi-genre event highlighting music, alternative energy, sustainable mobility, environmental film, and one of the leading edges of bike culture.

The Pleasant Revolution is a tour comprising two bands (Kipchoge and the Ginger Ninjas, and StitchCraft) and an environmental film festival biking from British Columbia to southern Mexico, and onward. Along the way, we’re working with local organizations to put on a powerful grassroots festivals unlike any your town has likely seen. These festivals will then be linked together in an annual, bicycling festival circuit all down the West Coast for fans and bands alike. In a nutshell, here's how we do it:

We provide:

* a human powered stage and sound system
* a live-on-bike mobile performance setup
* 2–3 great acts for the festival
* our consultation and know-how in organizing BMFFs (bicycle music and film festivals; we've co-produced dozens in over 10 countries)
* national and regional press
* a human powered version of the Wild and Scenic Film Festival
* local press support
* poster templates and other promo materials
* assistance in creating a fundraising package and plan
* a complete How-To guide
* and much more

We'll look to the local team to: coordinate local publicity, recruit and organize volunteers, fundraise, schedule, route-plan, get permits (if necessary) and venues, choose the films from among our selection, help us find local housing, and fill the music lineup with awesome acts

How this can benefit you, your organization and your town:

* tremendous publicity vehicle
* promote your cause to new audiences, with a pedal powered microphone
* grow your membership base
* gain signatures for your petitions and campaigns
* advertise related events to new audiences. BMFFs attract touring cyclists, road bikers, activists, artists, music lovers, family park strollers, film buffs, tourists, and more
* work with new local partners
* connect with new sponsors, funding sources, and revenue streams
* build capacity to throw your own bicycle music culture events
* extensive support from the only traveling BMFF promoters in the Milky Way
* put your town on the Pleasant Revolution West Coast Festival Route

Once we have a committed lead organizer, we will begin to help plan the festival. Our intention is to suggest a framework based on our experience putting these festivals on, and then leave most of the planning in the hands of our local contact(s) since most of the details depend almost entirely on local knowledge. Our goals:

* throw a wild, love-filled party of righteous biking and music
* sustain our tour
* inspire and help your community to create cycling music events in the future without us
* get your town on the permanent bicycle music festival map

Is that something that excites you?
