40 mile loop

Which direction is better to ride to avoid headwinds? I am taking a friend out this weekend who is not a strong rider so I want to make it as easy as possible.

the only stretch where you are likely to hit wind is on marine drive - i recommend checking the weather to see which direction the wind is going, then plan accordingly. also the wind tends to pick up more later in the day.... what is your planned route?
