That's it (dragon location). A great ride - you've got to ride through lots of eastside to get there, although you could go out Marine Drive, then cross under I-84 at Troutdale, then just follow the Columbia River Highway. And don't stop at the dragon - go until you have to get on I-84, and then come back. Or at least as far as Oneonta Gorge, as Lester suggested.
Ice cream at Multnomah Falls is required on hot days. Popsicles at the convenience store in Troutdale, too. Neither side of the climb up to Crown Point is difficult. |

Scott,
I can't tell if that sternwheeler is the Portland, or one of the others that I found the names of when I googled sternwheelers in Portland... I'm gonna have to go and look now... Rubberside Down! K'Tesh |

This is not in Portland, but one of the nearby towns. If there are any oldsters on the forum, or if anyone knows a little about the history of the outlying area, they might recognize this photo.

Isn't that in Oregon City? It doesn't look like that NOW, but there is the same sort of elevator structure. I think I see the City Hall/courthouse in the background.

That is the old elevator in downtown Oregon City. The elevator is now built next to the rock cliff.
