Question Sale/trade Folder

K'Tesh (or whomever else), I never really noticed it before until the other day when I went to sell a bike, but there's no "sale/trade/barter" folder. Is there any special reason there's not? I've always liked the idea of offering things to friends or peers before the general public. I know, I could have still listed it, but I didn't know if there was any sort of ban on it or something. Before I thought too long about it, I had it posted on CL and it was picked up in about three hours, not bad!

Lightbulb I Dunno? That's Jonathan's Decision...

That's a decision that Jonathan has to make... I personally don't know why there isn't a forum for bikes/equipment for sale/trade.

the reason I've never created a For Sale forum is precisely because of what bonny790 described above... Craigslist is amazing!

i just always figured why add another for sale forum when CL already is so effective.

however.. i'm always open to change and I realize that folks like to buy/sell/trade within a community they feel most comfortable with. I think once i feel there are enough regular users of these forums that it would take off... i would do it.

i really don't like starting a new forum only to watch it languish with no action.

I'm open to feedback...

i can't stand sifting through the crap on craigslist. it's just like thrift shopping. for every 99 p.o.s. items you see there is one gem. craigslist has one up on thrift stores in that there is no odor seeping from my mac.

it would be cool if there was a sale forum here so long as it was never found by the magna/huffy/pacific hordes.

Yeah I would be all for a forum here to sell and buy stuff. It is especially hard to try and find components or parts on CL and I would like that people would be tied into the online community that they are selling with.

Lightbulb My $0.02...

I, myself, am a little worried about a sale/trade forum as I'm concerned for the chance of abuse. If I could be certain that it wouldn't be an in for spammers, It'd be fine with me.

Default I've wondered the same thing...

I think there should be a "for sale" folder as well.

Lightbulb General Discussion maybe?

In lieu of a dedicated forum - maybe just give the green light for folks to post in the General Forum?

"Hey 1981 Puegot for sale! Anyone interested before I post to CL?"

Lightbulb Big spender today... my two bits...

I'd want some kind of expiration date... and I'd hate to see the general forum crowed with f/s posts. It can be hard enough to find some of the topics already.

If we are to allow f/s posts, I vote that they get their own section.

Angry No, thank you.

I'm going to vote strongly in the other direction. I don't want commercial solicitation noise in this forum. Specifically, I don't want to see these items when I click on "New Posts."

On top of everything else, I don't think it's fair to Jonathan to use this forum for commerce without giving him any recompense, and the forum isn't set up properly to allow that. Neither is it set up to "expire" commercial posts, which would certainly be necessary to keep the such listings current and useful.

There are plenty of ways for us to sell our items without using this forum.

The driver of a motor vehicle may only pass a person operating a bicycle by driving to the left of the bicycle at a safe distance and returning to the lane of travel once the motor vehicle is safely clear of the overtaken bicycle. For the purposes of this paragraph, a “safe distance” means a distance that is sufficient to prevent contact with the person operating the bicycle if the person were to fall into the driver’s lane of traffic....
