Bike to Work Celebration on Wednesday, May 17

(Portland, OR) - Portland Transportation Options is hosting a Bike to Work Day celebration at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Wednesday, May 17. The celebration at the Square begins at 7:30 AM and goes until 9:00 AM and is in celebration of National Bike Month and Bike to Work Week.

All bicyclists, new and experienced, are invited to join in easy group rides from several Portland Parks around the city. Bicycle rides leave the parks for Pioneer Square at 7:30 AM exception Gabriel Park which leaves at 7:15 AM.

New bicyclists are encouraged to join in the fun and experience the ease of getting to downtown on Portland’s bikeway network. New bike commuters can enter a drawing at the Square for free Bridge Pedal registrations and a new bike.

When & Where: May 17, 2006, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Pioneer Courthouse Square
SW 6th Avenue between Yamhill and Morrison

Bicycle Rides:
• Duniway Park Meet at SW Terwilliger & Sheridan
• Gabriel Park Meet at SW Vermont & 45th, at Community Center
• Laurelhurst Park Meet at SE Oak & 37th
• Grant Park Meet at NE Grant & 33rd
• Arbor Lodge Park Meet at N Dekum & Delaware
• Wallace Park Meet at NW 25th & Raleigh

Bicycle rides leave the parks for Pioneer Square at 7:30 AM exception Gabriel Park which leaves at 7:15 AM.

What: Free continental breakfast, tardy slips, and entertainment from some of Portland’s diverse bike culture will be on hand for bicycle commuters.
