On the Bike Blvd I nearly got right hooked by an SUV pulling into Starbucks.
I had calm words with her and she assured me that her jackrabbit start and unsignaled turn into the parking lot was safe. |

Were you northbound on 21st turning left? I always line up either behind cars or in front, never on the right. I always see bikes take off from the right, make the left turn to Division, then turn right on Ladd; most of the cars turn right on 21st. I feel safer taking the lane as I go around the corner, less chance of a right hook. Not to excuse the idiot driver you had to deal with.

Actually I saw the whole thing unfold and knew she was going to blast into the parking lot. We can be comforted that she continued her drive with a piping hot cup of coffee on which to focus her attention during the duration of her commute.
It is a crappy intersection and adding the driveway at that location off division was a stupid move by traffic planners. |

You are so correct that discordant tones have begun to ring true and my faith in the goodness of humanity has returned.
This intersection is a problem with a solution. |
