Picked up my copy of Breaking Away today... Got me thinking about Bikes in Movies. Which movies feature bikes as a serious plot element?
I remember these: Breaking Away Quicksilver American Flyer Pee Wee's Big Adventure The Muppet Movie Good Morning Vietnam Any others? |

Good Morning Vietnam is a bit of a stretch. But along that line, The Wizard of Oz opened with a bike scene. Before the witch flew on a broom, she rode a bike and stole Toto with it.
On the TV front, I always wished that Jerry Seinfeld would have once taken his bike off the wall and rode it somewhere.

BMX Bandits Les Triplettes de Belleville bikes were also in Goonies. Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) on Arrested Development rides a bike everywhere in season 1 and some of 2 (i think). |

Lets not forget that scene W/Henry Thomas and his friends (both local and um, er... out of state...)

Any number of movies when I was a kid in the seventies that featured BMX bikes. God I loved tooling around w/ my buddies at constructions sites and park trails. Illicit but harmless fun. No helmets, no gear, broken bones and stitches were part of the admission price and worn as a badge of honor.
Dazed and Confused, which is a pretty realistic portrayal of teenage life in 1978. What a different society that was. Crazy. |

Perfect title for a song based on this spring... "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head"... from the bicycle scene in:

Not that it was ridden, but there was an important part of the movie "Spirited Away" that featured a bike...
And "Kiki's Delivery Service" also had bikes in it. Rubberside Down! K'Tesh |
