I wanted to pass along some information about a class that is starting in Feb. at the Community Cycling Center. They have added a women's focus to their programs. You can check them out at www.communitycyclingcenter.org. They were also wondering if women would be interested in having a more intermediate class in February. If they get enough people interested then they would hold that class (perhaps instead).
Give Mary a call or send her an email if you are interested. Women’s Urban Cycling This class is for women interested in learning the basics of urban riding (safely navigating traffic) as well as, key basic bike maintenance. Over five weekly sessions, we will cover pre-ride safety checks, important monthly maintenance, and understanding when it is best to bring your bike to a professional mechanic. All participants will work on their own bikes in class using only the tools you will own. We will go on 2-3 rides to cover the fundamentals of riding safely. We will work to understand your individual goal – whether it is to become a daily commuter, ride for errands and local trips, or improve your health – and help you build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve it. A basic “for the road” toolkit and bike maps are included. Class maximum: 12. Cost: $125.
