Default I need a durable bike case, pronto!

My job is sending me to sunny CA next Monday. I wanna take my bike with me in a hard case. Can anyone recommend one to buy near Portland?

Get a Trek Madonne carboard box from Bike Gallery-Tough as nails, well-padded, with internal straps, reusable and cheap ($20).
I shipped a bike to and from CA via FedEx ground in one last month for peanuts and everythig inside was undamaged.

If you can't find one of the Madonne boxes, see if you can't ask your local shop for a few regular ones that they might be discarding.

Make your own heavy duty box by putting one inside another. Reinforce stress points with some good tape.

Remember to get some plastic jig things that go between the drop outs on your fork & rear (should be free if you ask nice). They keep the rear frame triangle/fork from getting smooshed. You can also make your own jig thingys by cutting some plastic pipe and using your quick releases.
