Default The Portland Century

Got a good laugh yesterday as I kept running into Portland Century riders all over Washington County.

Seems the Portland Century doenst cover many miles in Portland or even Multnomah County.

One would think it would highlight Portland's cycling infrastructure, which is so much better than riding in Wash Co and environs, as we are reminded so often by the comments on articles on the main page.

Whoever planned that route knows little about the west side. This route went along some of the most stressful roads that most west siders would avoid like a plague. Maybe that is why I didn't see any riders yesterday.

Overall, the west side has some very nice bike miles heading through and far from the suburban lights with some wonderful stops along the way. But I suppose it requires a WS native to know how to plan such a route. West Union, Hwy 8, Hwy 6, Hwy 47 would not be on the go-to list.

I agree with their route issues. Which is why I kept seeing them throughout my ride. I cross over the highways as I ride the quieter roads.

Wow, that's laughable. It starts and ends in Portland, but that's it.
