Question best secure skewers? Pitlock? Pinhead? Bueller?

who makes awesome secure skewers (and seatpost, etc) parts?

Pitlock looks nice but it's expensive...

Pinhead looks decent and is more reasonably priced...

Delta Hublox are cheap and look easily defeated...

what else is out there? have you used anything that's been defeated? using anything that hasn't been defeated?

I think I have the Deltas. Looks the same. I haven't had my wheels stolen yet, but don't often lock up outside. I got them at Clever Cycles when I had a dynamo wheel built.

I have the pinhead locks, including the seat post lock, and I really like them. I have an older model, whose "wrench" can be kind of a pain to get seated on the bolt when removing a component. However I've been told the new models have been improved and do not have this problem.

I purchased the locks while living in San Francisco, which has a much more severe component theft problem than Portland, and left the bike locked up in sketchy areas outside all the time. I never had any problems (of course, I also used a New Yorker U-Lock). Seems like thieves can identify the pinheads as being more trouble than they are worth immediately and move on to easier targets.

It's a little bit of an pricey investment up-front, but I can truthfully say it's saved me a lot of worrying and worth it for that reason alone.
