The $100,000.00 Scare Tactic

I was bicycling around the local Fred Meyers in Beaverton, when I noticed that several storm drains in their parking lot were missing metal straps to prevent bikes from dropping in (they were broken off at some time).

I called and spoke to the manager told him of the problem and advised them of the very real recent news report about the bicyclist who was awarded $100,000.00 for Pain and Suffering when he injured after hitting a similar storm drain in Portland.

The storm drains were fixed immediatly!

(Did the same to the local Petsmart... Went back to check on them, but their problem is re-occuring (see post below)).

The person MOST responsible for your safety can be seen in any mirror!
