Not the neatest job of pruning that I've seen, but it's not going to be a problem for a long time to come.

I like trees and all leafy air pollution cleaners.
OTOH even the prettiest tree can become a hazard.

It wasn't as fast as Agent Orange but when applied as directed it was 100% effective. A small garden pump sprayer on stream and one might not even need to stop.

Not strictly legal but eventually we have to respond to dangerous private encroachment on public space.

I usually don't do much road improvements since I'm a bit of a fan of many obstacles. I'll go out of my way by a couple of blocks to hit a cobblestone or dirt road, for instance.

I saw this on 78th street a bit west of St. Johns and had to pull it out and toss it in the grass, though.

You may remember the issue about the huge gaps I found on SW Park Ave at Clay (as seen in Post 316)

I've been putting a lot of pressure on this issue lately, and found that the vaults belonged to PGE.

I got a phone call and this email this morning.

K'Tesh, here is my contact information for you to e mail or call me if you need to get in touch with PGE regarding these vault lids. Today we are putting some filler material into the wider cracks. I have spoken to the SDC (design) to get Old Castle (are contractor to build these special lids) into these vaults to get measurements and start building these new ones. Thank you for our conversation this morning on the phone and your e mail address so we can contact each other.

Here's the email I send after catching the guys from PGE in the process of the temporary repair.

Hi folks,

I was there when three PGE employees showed up to shift the grates over this vault, then filled it in with rope, foam, and some self-leveling sealant. I was told that new covers for these vaults have been ordered and will be installed in about a month.


In the meantime, I thought I'd share photos of the guys (Rick, Ryan, and Lou) doing the temporary fix.


Thanks for all your time and efforts in helping me get this issue resolved.

Dangerous Grates on SW Park @ SW Clay (Repair in Progress)

UPDATE: Was corrected, the vault covers have to be special ordered, and will take a couple of months to be replaced.

I sent another email, just after the "Thanks for fixing the grate" email (Really, We Still Have This Problem?!)... This time it's about this issue:

After checking out the grate that you folks fixed, I headed to Tualatin to catch the WES by traveling down Upper Boones Ferry Rd.. Between SW Durham Rd, and SW Afton Ln., there's a problem with the bikelane being crowded by overgrowing landscaping and blackberries. Sorry I didn't find it earlier when you had the stuff to tackle 99W. Again, this is threatening tall vehicles too.

While they're at it, could they do some work on the MUP between SW Montgomery St and SW 18th Ave in Portland. The rose bushes were a probably not the best idea to plant at eye level there.

I'm here, and I'm already actively getting things cleaned up.



And a heaved sidewalk in front of the Police Facility has already bean dealt with...



A pair of phone calls into Non-Emergency Dispatch, and Sherwood's Public Works Dept came out and ground the edge of this segment of sidewalk down. And while they were there, they also dealt with my complaint about the trees overgrowing the sidewalk and bike lane...
