Default Community Invited to Plant Trees, Celebrate Arbor Day with the City of Beaverton

For those that frequent the Fanno Creek Trail - this looks like it's along the new section that was just completed.

BEAVERTON, Ore. – In support of its commitment to increasing the tree canopy and enhancing the community’s quality of life, the city of Beaverton has partnered with Friends of Trees to host a tree planting ceremony and Arbor Day celebration on the Fanno Creek Trail behind the city of Beaverton’s Operations Center (9600 SW Allen Boulevard) on Saturday, April 7 at 9 a.m.

Following the ceremony, community members will be invited to help plant trees along the Fanno Creek Trail located behind the Beaverton Operations Center. Forty trees will be planted, which include 20 Doug Fir, 15 Western Red Cedar and five Oregon Oaks. Tree planting is a national tradition that started with the first Arbor Day on April 10, 1872. This is the sixth year the city of Beaverton has partnered with Friends of Trees.

Additional volunteers are needed for this event. If you would like to donate your time or would like more information, please contact Pat Hoff at 503-526-2237. In honor of Arbor Day, those who attend and help plant trees will be given a small, native tree or shrub at the end of the event.
