Smile Preview of coming attractions... The New Fanno Creek Trail Segment

The long wait for the Fanno Creek Trail to be completed is nearly over. In the map below, I outlined the new segment in orange, and added green to show the on road segments.

I went out and photographed the construction site of the last trail segment as it was being built. Soon the trail will extend from the Garden Home Rec Center in Beaverton to Tualatin's Community Park.

Follow the link to the Slide Show.

Default Preview of coming attractions... The New Fanno Creek Trail Segment (pt 2)

Here's a few more pics from the set.

Looking forward to getting to ride the whole thing when it's finished.

Excellent news. I am looking forward to checking it out as well. If only they could fit a trail under the railroad tracks and 217 where the creek goes under north of Denny. I read in the trail master plan some time back that they felt a new trail overpass was needed there, but that would be very expensive and quite a climb for the less fit (like the Denny overpass today).

Best news ever!
I've been riding Heather, avoiding Denny all along to meet up with the FC Denny trailhead, pretty pleasant...but this news is fine finery! I will definitely be around to check this segment out!

I live a block off Denney and really think that this only does half the job.

For those going south bound it's fine. But those going north bound have to make the left turn on 105th across a busy intersection without traffic control devices. It is very rare that you catch the green at the 217 ramp, as well as very rare that there isn't vehicle traffic on Denney in both directions as well as entering from the 217 off ramp. From the Stop line on east side of the overpass you have just over 200 ft to cross a lane of traffic into the left turn lane to head north on 105th. Then face finding a break in the west bound traffic to make the turn.

The north bound users of the Fanno Creek trail would have been better served by extending the bike lane from 105th east to Scholls Ferry, where the intersection has traffic lights, and there are bike lanes on Scholls Ferry.

I agree about Denny. That's why I'll use 105 (southbound) to heather instead to avoid Denny altogether. Now I may, on a day with less traffic take 105 going the other way.

Another Fenno Creek MUP question:
I usually take a route between (Fenno Creek Path Northbound) Old Town Main ST and SW Johnson to get to the rest of the trail at Woodard City Park. Anyone aware of a path that does this without having to traverse the roads? Someone hinted to me recently that there was one. If you know please tell me!

Lightbulb What's My Alternate Route?

I've been bypassing the Fanno Creek Trail in Tigard lately. I don't like the rough section between Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub and SW Hall.

SB, I get off the trail at SW Tigard St. and take it into downtown Tigard. I'll cross SW Main St., then go through TriMet's Park and Ride/MUP to SW Hall, and continue south that way.

I also am not a big fan of the rough patch under the 99W Viaduct.

Hope that helps
