What about bike lanes on SW Greenway Blvd?‏

I don't know why, but tonight this struck me as an obvious need...

Sent this to several members of B'Ton's BAC, as well as the Mayor, the BTA, and the WashCo BTC.

I was riding out on SW Greenway Blvd tonight, and I noticed that there's no parking, the lanes are wide (and fast), and despite all the traffic, there's no bike lanes.

Can we get bike lanes placed on SW Greenway from SW Hall to SW Downing Dr.?

I like that idea. Narrowing the auto lanes may also reduce speeds slightly.

If the lanes are wide, and there is not a bike lane, I myself am perfectly happy. Lots of room for everyone, no issues.

If there is a bike lane, unless it is unsafe, I have to ride in it.

I live in the Greenway neighborhood and have often thought that myself. The only area of concern I see is from SW Hall to SW Davies as there are several entrances to apartments. Cars do drive to quickly through there.

There are bike lanes on the west end starting at Downing drive and continuing on Brockman Rd, the road name changes at SW Sorrento.

I ride that road a lot, and don't find a need for bike lanes because it is wide very wide until you get to Hall Blvd, where the left turn lane eats up the width. This gets particularly crowed at rush hour when the light backs up the traffic.

I find the majority of drivers very courteous, although that changes when the school year is in session. The students who drive and the parents who pick up at the school tend to be a little too focused on getting to Albertson's to pick up a rotisserie chicken and talking on their cell phones, instead of watching the road.
