Lost an amazing free service

I went on their website yesterday to watch a video on a Rear Hub Overhaul to find out that the site's video content is no longer free and requires a Monthly or Annual fee.

bicycletutor.com is no longer a free service.

When I first accessed the site I was astonished by the professionalism and detail of the content. I figured it was only a matter of time before the popularity of the website motivated the authors to start asking money.

I knew I should have captured all the streaming videos while they were free and saved them to my harddrive..... I guess its time for plan B. >=)

With dial-up, video tutorials aren't very practical, but I did download and watch one for removing a rear cassette. The production quality was as you say, but looked to be produced by people that weren't big income corporate professionals, but just regular working people hoping to get ahead by providing a worthy service to the public.

Maybe you already do, but people can get first hand help doing repairs theirself at various community bike centers. I'm thinking it might be much more handy for me if the Washington County Bike Transportation Coalition had a shop in Beaverton, rather than west of Aloha, in Reedville.

That's a bummer, they were super helpful. Might be worth signing up for their service or buying 1-off videos if they allow it. There is a lot of stuff on youtube for free though so it's tough to compete against that.
