Case of the missing section of bike lane

Why are there sections where for no apparent reason the bike lane disappears for one block and than reappears?!?!?

Here's one example I found over on the west side. The bike lane disappears on for the same block going in both directions on Evergreen Pkwy just east of Cornelius Pass Rd.

The photos are from my wife's cheap cell phone she took as I drove past.


This is on the west side of Cornelius Pass Rd facing east. It's a nice wide and clean lane.


This is just after crossing Cornelius Pass Rd. There is no signage regarding the change in the lane before or after in either direction.


Just one block later the lane is back. You can see the green trees just after the purple ones in the second shot, which should be a good reference for the distance the lane is gone.

Why does this kind of thing happen? Where'd the lane go?

I did note that in the second shot the vehicle in front of my is crossing some train tracks (though I can't attest to whether or not they are still being used or are abandoned).
