MacKenzie Pass open?

I have to do this ride! However, I can't find when it'll be open. I check ODOT, but there's usually nothing there. Does anyone know of a website that keeps track of when it'll be open for bikes?

I rode up McKenzie Pass maybe 25-30 years ago. A killer ascent, but the descent is awesome! And the views ...

You should think about riding it before they open the gate at Alder Springs. That's low enough that it should be rideable now. No worries about cars. You probably won't make it all the way to the pass due to snow. I can't remember what month we rode it, probably May, and we hit snow just before the Frog Camp parking area.

Once the pass opens to auto traffic, you're going to have cars pressing you from behind because there isn't much opportunity for them to pass you.

It's a pretty heavy snow year. I wouldn't expect the pass to open until June.

There is no set date, it's when the snow melts. Ride it before they open it autos.

I got a reply from ODOT the other day. They're doing some sort of project and it's going to take all summer, so biking through to Bend is out. Dang. Next year is the year I do it.

I road the pass up to the look out over the Holiday Weekend. Very very nice. Can't wait to get to the Observatory.

There will be short stint when you can do the whole ride before construction starts.

Full construction starts in one week (July 6th). If anyone is considering riding it, now's the time to go.

Looks like riding it from the east is much more accessible than the west, due to the planned road construction.
