Has anyone had a chance to ride the BV trail lately? Last I saw (in early January), the Manning trailhead area had several inches of snow.
I'm hoping to make use of the trail this weekend (riding out from Portland to Vernonia) and I'd love to know if it's ride-able. Thanks! ________ buy herbalaire Last edited by Axel; 01-17-2011 at 07:49 PM. |

your bigger issue might be that parts of the trail were washed out in the Dec 07 flood, and may not yet have been rebuilt - large chunks of the paved trail on the Vernonia side are just gone.

Thanks Lynne!
I might end up calling the folks at the state parks department and asking about the flood-damaged sections. I haven't used the trail since the summer of '07 (pre-flood) so I'll be interested to see how the storms affected it. I'll let the board know what I find out... I'm okay with a couple of miles of unpaved/dirt/gravel/mud sections, if need be. ________ Honda CD100 Last edited by Axel; 01-17-2011 at 07:50 PM. |

according to the very-recently updated webpage, the unpaved part is closed altogether. too bad, it is kind of fun.

I confirmed the closures with the friendly ranger from Stub Stewart State Park that took my call on Friday afternoon.
Even though I didn't ride all the way into Vernonia, it didn't stop me from having a good time - I ended up going to the closed section of the trail from my house in Multnomah Village and then back home. Great ride! ________ KTM 400XC-W Last edited by Axel; 01-17-2011 at 07:50 PM. |
