Been doing the multi-mode route using MAX and bike from home to work, but am looking for an occasional alternative (maybe more if I really get into it) to ride all the way. I've seen several routes listed from the Westside to downtown and was curious about which is the "easiest" .
I know, it sounds like I'm a bit of a wuss, but have a physical job (I'm a nurse) and end up being on my feet for the greater part of 12 hours so I don't want to arrive at work completely exhausted to start. The other issue is time. I work nights, 7p-7a, so sleep is essential. In other words a long drawn out route is not great. Any suggestions? I'm coming in from Farmington and 170th area. Thanks in advance! Tom |

I'd think that just aiming at the West Hills and then taking the Zoo path:
http://www.portlandonline.com/shared...e.cfm?id=90495 up and over would be your best bet. The only problem will be the first couple miles after you leave work. Use low gears! FWIW: I'm coming in from the opposite direction. I live in east Vancouver and work at Emanuel as a pharmacy tech. It's pretty flat until I get close to home- then it's a short 7-8% climb. Ugh.
