Default SE to Sauvie Island?

I was thinking of taking a ride out to Sauvie Island. Anyone know of a nice ride out to Sauvie Island. Should I just ride along 30 the whole way? Was maybe thinking of going to the beaches is that doable in a day trip? Advice?

I checked mapmyride.com and didn't find much.

Thanks in advance
Jake

One variation for part of the way is to take Naito (Front Ave) past McCormick Pier and warehouses until you get to Kittridge. Turn left on a viaduct over the RR tracks and it drops you back onto 30.

I like to take Interstate up to Willamette and out to St. Johns, cross the bridge and pick up 30 there. Riding on 30 isn't too much fun so I minimize my time on that route.

Be careful once you get to the Island. They're working on the new bridge there and the shoulder is closed, so you're having to share a lane with traffic for a short distance.
