I live in St Johns and usually do Williams to Ainsworth on any return trip. Mainly because it's the quietest and most level. Interstate is good if you like climbing. Heading into downtown I usually go through the Overlook neighborhood and meet up with Interstate at the park. Sometimes I'll do Vancouver (you really can't go wrong with Williams/Vancouver at any time) and if it's dry and sunny I may take Greeley. I'm not reel comfy with Greeley when it's snotty out and visibility is poor. Occasionally I'll go up/down Mississippi to mix it up. I usually just play it by ear and make the turn when it feels right that day. Time wise? I don't know, never payed much attention, but I would assume the farther East you went before heading South, the longer it would take
