I used to do that commute, prior to the Esplenade's existence, as such:
HWY 99 North
Right on Mill (just past the Goodwill)
Left on 7th Ave
Right on Sandy
Left on 12th
Left on Lloyd (I'd frequently go right here and run down Broadway to Williams, etc. -- See above, i guess.)
Follow Interstate
Left on alberta
Right on Denver
