good ideas vs. good laws

Question: If a bicycle is being operated on a city sidewalk at a walking speed, after dark, and with due care, must that bicycle be fitted with a front light?

No street needs a ton of any marking

I know they bring some sense of security or affirmation to some riders but, I now choose to ride only on roads without them.

Windy Day in Portland

So, I was outside riding my 15 speed bicycle, and the wind blew harder than normal, tossing loads of leaves and dust into the air. I was appreciating my goggles. I then rode my bicycle some more....
