Visiting October 9-13, yay!

So I got a great deal ... Round-trip travel from Vancouver BC, and 4 nights in a queen bed at the Jupiter hotel, for under $300 all-in (sure I could have gone even thriftier on accomodations but I need a vacation and thus a private room). I haven't been to PDX since summer 2007 and I'm excited to return! Last time I borrowed a cruiser from a BikePortland user (thanks Noah!) but now that Amtrak has thru service I can FINALLY bring my own trusty road bike.

My Googling has revealed there are some Oregon Manifest events going on that weekend, along with Freak Bike Fall. This looks like fun - I don't have a particularly freaky bike but I'd love to see what others come up with. And I know bike events are a great way to see the city in a manner that I might not have otherwise.

Anyway I just wanted to say hi. Perhaps you'll see me around :) Feel free to share any tips, ideas, etc.

Oh, and if I should have any bike trouble while in town, is there any particular shop you'd recommend in the vicinity of Jupiter?

Enjoy your visit to Portland!

Citybikes on Ankeny is nearby and is a very cool shop to check out, whether you need their services or just want to browse around.

Thanks for the tip Scott, sounds perfect.

And I just noticed the midnight mystery ride... *that* is definitely the way to see the city.

Folks, I had an excellent time. Missed the MMR for entirely virtuous reasons, but made it out to brunch, Olympics and Zoobomb on Sunday. For those of you who met me, if you would like to keep in touch you can PM or e-mail me on the forum. Back to Vancouver life now. :)

Oh, and Scott, Citybikes was perfect when my bell broke the day before my departure. I got an I heart PDX bell last-minute before heading off for the train.
