Get Lost! Barrows Road, Tigard...
I've said that I'd never take Roy Rogers/Scholls after dark again, but everybody said that Barrows was a good alternative... So, I decided to give it a try... Oops!

Took Roy Rogers from Sherwood, and traffic was down from my last experience. Perhaps that's because last time it was just before Halloween, and people were searching for pumpkins. I don't know how I managed to pull it off, but every time I had traffic approaching from behind, I had oncoming traffic too. So, there'd be a flurry of cars in both directions, then open and quiet for a moment, untill we all met again... Signal timing? No rude jerks, but then, I'm sure that they could see me looking at the license plate (with my helmet light) of the car in front of them.

I turned onto Barrows, and immediately noticed that there's no bike lane in the portion that was just made from Scholls to the roundabout, or it wasn't marked well, 'cause I didn't see it, nor did I see enough space for it. Thought that this was required by a 1971 law... Hello?! Hello?!

The bike lane cuts in and out for portions down there. When all the development is finished, this isn't going to be any fun with all the traffic that is going to follow. Unfortunatly, it's true, if you build it, they will come. http://bikeportland.org/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif

Anyway, I followed Barrows up to where it kinda T bones into Walnut, and took the wrong turn to end up on Scholls near Murray (I went right). I kept up the mantra, "It must just be around this corner...", until I hit Tiedeman, then made my way to Fowler Middle School. Once there I knew where I was, and took the Fanno Creek Trail from there.

I need to do more daylight exploring, cause this didn't work any better than 99W to the Fanno Creek Trail... Except that it had more and longer hills.

I'm thinking that I'm going back to 99W and staying after dark... What's more, if I break down, and need a bus, 99W has bus service, Walnut/Scholls/Roy Rogers doesn't, from what I could see.

Rubberside Down!

I was just saying Barrows back to Scholls to avoid the hill.
Still better than 99w if we are voting.
