Safe route from Portland airport-Portland-Salem
What do you advice? In Salem we get up the Transamerica Trail...

except you'll take the bike path from the airport and pick up the I-205 bike path; follow it all the way south to where it intersects with the route above. Or others will chime in with clearer directions

The problem is that the track does't cover a path on the Map source City Navigator. I intend to buy The Mapsource Topo US.
Do you think this is a good idea? In that case I doubt to buy the topo 2007 or 2008...

The description in the topo 2007 is:
Highways, roads, hiking trails, snowmobile trails, backwoods trails
In 2008:
Trails and rural roads; city neighborhood roads

I think there is no important difference…

If I understand your question, you are asking about the bike routes in Portland. You want this map:

Heerda, if you're looking for bike maps covering the area between Portland and Salem, then the Metro map lynne cited is good, along with the excellent "Salem/Keizer Polk Co./Marion Co. Bike Map" - Free, call 1.503.588.6211 for a copy.

hope this helps -

Maps for GPS
I think Heerda's 2nd post is about maps for GPS devices.

I-205 path closed
You may already be aware of this - but to double check on lynnef's post (#2) - the I-205 bike path is closed for large portions. You can still navigate fairly easily through that stretch, there are signs leading you down 92nd Ave for most parts, but it gets a little twisty around Sunnyside Rd. At least I thought so.

Just something to be aware of, nothing too dangerous or sketchy.
