View Full Version : younger women?

I am moving from Boston to Portland next month. I've enjoyed being a part of an informal (no sponsers) women's riding group here- usually casual riding but with opportunities for intense rides. Most of the riders are younger women (19-25), and it's a fantastic biking and social network. Are there any groups of younger women cyclists like this in Portland?

HI there, we welcome you to Portland. One thing you will find here is that there is all sorts of bike fun.
Two groups you could try are Sorella Forte - an all women's sponsored group but don't let that stop you. You don't have to wear the gear or pay dues. They have both recreational rides and rides for those that want to race. www.sorellaforte.com. The other two places are bike shops - River City rides on Saturdays at 10am - www.rivercitybicycles.com. And The Bike Gallery will start rides back up in March on Sundays. They have a Women's Kick-off February 12th 6pm at their Hollywood Store - www.bikegallery.com.
One more place to check out is the Shift website - www.shifttobikes.org. They have a great calendar of what is happening in the bike scene.
Plus this forum will hopefully work out to hook you up with at least one if not more people to ride with you. If you have any other questions you can post them or contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a safe trip out west. Cheers. Janis
