Give WikiWalki (http://wikiwalki.com/) a try to map out routes for yourself and others. It even supports import/export of GPS if you're into that kind of thing.

thanks, this is a good alternative to GMaps Pedometer, which has annoyingly enough been semi-broken for months (the scroll down arrow zooms you way out for some ?#@!? reason...)
