I'm looking for the safest bike route from an airport to Manistee, MI.
I'd like to ride between 60 to 240 miles. I'm thinking of flying into Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Traverse City, Lansing, or Flint. I also would consider flying into Chicago (And taking a train part of the way.) Anyone have a safe route?

Thanks!!!:)

I hope you get some first-hand suggestions but Google gives at least interesting results. I asked it for directions from Grand Rapids, MI to Manistee, MI, clicked the 'bike' icon and it gave me three choices, two quite similar on White Pine Trail (https://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Grand+Rapids,+MI&daddr=43.8847536,-85.6122527+to:Manistee,+MI&hl=en&geocode=FaCRjwIdCs_k-ikVKFC7YFQYiDHQqNMby6qTpQ%3BFdGgnQIdJKnl-ik5izzkcdgeiDGoyiMeT9URVQ%3BFd8dowId48va-inZLJk9EykciDE2W5zbZhLrGw&aq=0&sll=43.568452,-86.017456&sspn=2.005951,5.410767&vpsrc=6&dirflg=b&mra=ltm&ie=UTF8&ll=43.640051,-85.698853&spn=2.003565,5.410767&t=h&z=8&lci=bike&via=1) (130 miles) and one different on Musketawa Trail (https://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Grand+Rapids,+MI&daddr=Manistee,+MI&hl=en&geocode=FaCRjwIdCs_k-ikVKFC7YFQYiDHQqNMby6qTpQ%3BFd8dowId48va-inZLJk9EykciDE2W5zbZhLrGw&aq=0&sll=43.568452,-86.017456&sspn=2.005951,5.410767&vpsrc=6&dirflg=b&mra=ltm&ie=UTF8&ll=43.640051,-85.698853&spn=2.003565,5.410767&t=h&z=8&lci=bike) (125 mi). The trail sections for both routes are quite short and the rest is on many back roads with lots of turns; Google's long cue sheet is very detailed!

Are you doing that ride in the winter? That would be impressive, and maybe some other adjectives!

there's not a lot of traffic up there :) I'd recommend looking for routes on Bikely. Most of my riding is around Crystal Lake, so can't help much.

I found this site.

I will ride in July.

I used to ride in Michigan in the winter in the snow.
