I know we've had some discussion of the Banks-Vernonia State Trail project but with the recent grand opening for the Banks connection, I figured we need a place to gather actual user input for the trail.

Personally I am quite happy to be the recipients of this Rails-to-Trails project. I very much look forward to riding the entire trail hopefully with some fellow forum members in the future.

To begin the interest, here is some of the pertinent information:

The flier with map [pdf]:

Access to GPS [GPX] file that can be loaded into Google Earth.
You have to set up an account and validate your account before you can download but it is well worth the effort. You can get to the site from here:
http://www.traillink.com/trail/banks-vernonia-state-trail.aspx

...and there is also some useful information on the page as well.

With your help, this could be "the place to be" for a healthy season of riding.

Hope to see you there ...one day :)

The date for completion of the trail upgrades around the Tophill trailhead keeps getting pushed out a week at a time. If you are planning to ride this section of the trail be sure and check the Oregon Parks trail page for updates before you go.

As of today the update says that section of the trail will be closed until Nov 19th; that is at least the third delay in reopening the trail.
