A Park Planner for Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District working on our Bond Project to complete Rock Creek Regional Trail contacted me.

They are informing folks that the master plan is going to their Board of Directors for approval September 13 and are anticipating opposition from neighbors who don't want the trail near their property.

If you are interested in attending the meeting, here is the information:

The link lynnef posted leads to an informative notice. The notice had a link for a THPRD webpage that had on it a map. The map wouldn't load up for me...some kind of google app issue.

Here's a link to another map of the Rock Creek Regional Trail that loaded up fine:

No doubt, Walker Macy, the planning outfit that's got the contract for design and construction of this trail, has some great maps of the segment to be discussed (fairly sure it was them that presented for a segment of the Westside Trail at a THPRD trails advisory meeting earlier in the year; they had great, highly detailed engineering map handouts.). Unfortunately, they don't have them readily accessible on their website. Don't know about everyone else, but I'd like to be able to see those maps here, instead of having to wait to go to the meeting to see them.

Hi,

We need to have trail supporters at the upcoming (Mon. Sept 13th)
THPRD Board of Directors meeting. On the agenda is staff's request
for approval of the Rock Creek/North Bethany Trail Master Plan. We
very much need at least one person, and preferably more, to testify in
support of this plan. Neither I nor Barb will be in the area and so I
call upon the rest of you for help. Former members of the TAC who know
this area are also most welcome to step up and support this Master Plan!

Some of you heardPatty Freeman present the proposed plan to the TAC in
July and we had a chance to review it in detail. The three trail
segments in question are (1) the Rock Creek Trail in the vicinity of
West Union and 185th; (2) the Rock Creek Trail in the vicinity of
Kaiser Woods Park; and (3) the North Bethany trail south of the PCC
Rock Creek Campus, across Springville Road.

Unfortunately, several neighbors appear to gearing up to testify in
opposition to all of the segments in question because they are afraid
of having any trail "in their back yards." As I understand it, they
don't necessarily disagree with trails, but they want them farther
away from their back yards -- which will heavily and negatively impact
local wetlands/streams. Staff has attempted to reach the most
reasonable approach going forward and we need to support that.

You are not expected to be an expert on the proposed Master Plan.
What I would ask is that you support the staff recommendation, stating
your strong commitment to connectivity and support for staff's careful
consideration to making the least impact upon the area's natural
resources.

I am cc'ing Hal Bergsma and Nicole Paulsen on this email. They have
additional resources available to you and are very willing to answer
your questions.

Please note that this Board of Directors meeting will be held at the
Conestoga Recreation & Aquatic Center, 9985 SW 125th Ave., Beaverton,
Rooms 202 & 203. Conestoga Rec Center is north of Scholls Ferry Road
and between Highway 217 and Murray Blvd. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Please help.
Thanks,
Wendy

I don't have first experience walking the Rock Creek/North Bethany trails.

Wonder if anyone knows whether Conestoga lets people bring bikes into the meeting rooms as Beaverton City Hall seems to generally do.

All trails are important for non-motorized road users to get a break from playing dodge car.

I brought my bike inside the same room last week for the meeting I attended there.

Reminder that the meeting is tonight.
