Lost the wheel magnet thingy for my Sigma odometer. Is a magent a magnet a magnet? Or do I have to special order a replacement from Sigma?
They're just reasonably strong magnets. Most cool local bike shops should be able to hook you up with a replacement on the cheap or even free.

Dropped by Clack Mall REI during lunch and repair guy came up with a magnet. Different than Sigma's, but sure it will work

If all else fails:
try Neodymium Magnets at United Nuclear (http://unitednuclear.com/magnets.htm).
They sell the most powerful permanent magnets available to the general public.
The Supermagent #31 was used on Mythbusters to allow Jamie climb a metal surface.
I have a couple fragments of a klystron magnet that are almost certainly the same material or weaker. The pull is strong enough that when placed gently it will leave an indentation on all but the hardest power coated steels.
