Because my bike lock is heavy and the hill to work is steep and long, I started leaving my bike lock locked to the rack. Then I started leaving my lock and my cable locked to the rack.

Then about a week later, my keys wouldn't open my lock. Luckily this happened when my bike was not already locked to the rack, so I don't have to worry about retrieving my bike. But I do want my lock and cable back. I've tried all 4 of my keys. I'm sure it's my lock, that someone didn't steal my lock and leave another one. I'm also sure I have the right keys. It is possible that some mechanism inside is rusted (though it's rather amazing if it can get that rusted in one week when it wasn't raining). I can get my key all the way in the hole, and turn it half way, and then I can't turn it any more. I'm thinking of trying WD-40, or something like that.

Any ideas? Has any one else had a problem like this with their lock?

Thanks,
Sara

Well, the WD-40 worked like a charm. So I guess it was rusted.

I've used graffite powder (get it at any hardware store / key store) with success on all kinds of stuck locks.
