I had back surgery 4 weeks ago (L5/S1 Fusion).

Of course, almost every day of those 4 weeks has been perfect cycling weather and it's been killing me to be off the saddle.

My doc is telling me 3-6 months before I can ride again. And that blows.

Anyone else have this procedure or similar and care to share your experience and timeline to remount?

I've had two, yes two, L5S1 laminectomies....seven years apart.
If there's one bit of wisdom I can impart, particularly because you have the added issue of the fusions is to BE PATIENT!
Buy some good walking shoes and spend some time doing the bipedal thing. If your going nuts maybe you can learn how to build wheels or some other cathartic/therapeutic cycling-related activities. In 5 or 6 months you can start riding again (get a larger width set of tires for your bike for more cushioning and take it slowly.
Be there, done that. You will heal.
