View Full Version : Advice for Amtrak to Sea-Tac

Hey, I'm planning on riding from the Seattle Amtrak station in downtown Seattle to Sea-Tac (gotta take my boards). I found some great info, including a map and written directions, at the Seattle city website (http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/bikemaps.htm), but wanted to see if anyone had any experience or advice re: this route. Many thanks in advance!

If you can travel on a weekend day, 1st and 4th Avenues will be much more pleasant, assuming there's no sporting event. That's all I got.
Doesn't Seattle Metro have busses from King Station down to the Airport?
Are you flying with your bike?
Other options include jumping off the train in Tacoma, weathering the nastiness that is Puyallup Ave for a few blocks 'til it crosses the river and turns into Pacific Highway (HWY 99) and actually has bike lanes. Then you'll have to deal with all the Mall traffic in Federal Way, but hey, maybe the train ticket is cheaper???
About 18 miles of riding as opposed to about 12.
- oh, and if you roll in to Tacoma while Alfred's Cafe is still serving breakfast, make sure to enjoy some of the finest corned beef hash before you bike up to the airport.
