View Full Version : PDXTrans put on a bike bucket class... (10/01/08 )

I was one of lucky people to be able to go to the Shop By Bike class that was put on by PDXTrans. People learned a little about load management, and then got to build their own bike bucket.

My lab partner, and hand model, Kellie and her new bucket.

There were only 20 buckets, so only a few people got to participate. I understand the class is held twice a year, and is part of their transportation alternatives program.

It would be cool if more classes/workshops could be done, however there is a finite number of square buckets with lids available. Also, since the hardware was provided free (including the retroreflective trim), there's a funding issue.

Perhaps if more people were to collect buckets (with lids), and be willing to pay for all or part of the supplies PDXTrans might be able to do this more often.

I found that cat litter buckets and pickled ginger buckets (from sushi restaurants) are some of the easiest to find.

I posted pictures on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ufobike/sets/72157607666797352), but they don't include step by step instructions...

Contact PDXTrans for more info. Bikewonder has also collected them for these events (http://bikeportland.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1303&highlight=kitty+litter).
