I am really glad to see this forum up. It is really important to document these problem areas. I think it would be really helpful if there was a site that was linked up with google maps and people could post when a bike has been hit by a car. Then you could look at the map and have them all plotted out.

This would be a good way to visually demonstrate the problem of bikes getting hit and it would let us know which areas are a real problem and need to be fixed.

I may do it someday, but I don't really know anything about it. Anyone else interested?

Here is a blog about these types of sites:

*** Sorry, I just read Jonathan's initial post for this thread regarding the PDOT map. It is good that PDOT is doing this, but I still think it would be great if there was a site where people could post directly to a google map. It would be really easy for people to do and I think it would attract much more interest because you can see the outcome. More of a power to the people/ light on bureaucracy method.

Here are some good examples:

Part of the plan for the ghostbike.org and ghostcyclepdx.org sites includes collision mapping, dangerous intersection mapping, close calls reporting, and resources on what to do in case of collision / incidents with motorists.

Anyone with suggestions on features for the sites, please post here.

There is a reference here to a bike accident map that PDOT hosts, but I cannot seem to find it on the internet.
Can someone please let me know how to find it.

Thanks!
