Forecast for this Sunday is mostly sunny, 10% rain, 73 deg F.

Ride Levels: Easy, Intermediate
Easy ride distance - 17 miles mostly flat
Intermediate ride distance - 34 miles mostly flat

There will be an Easy Loop as well as an Intermediate Ride. Both rides depart seperately from Madison Plaza.
Cyclists may join or leave the ride at any point along the path.

Ride accompanied by bike mechanics. Our club Code of Conduct asks each member to do their best to assist other participants in need during ride events.

Sequence of Group Ride Events on Sunday April 23rd, ALL TIMES ARE
ESTIMATES:

1:00 PM
Pre-ride free safety-check & mini-tune at Eastbank Esplanade Madison Street Parking Lot. UBI certified mechanic(s) will be available with tools & bike stand.

2:00 PM
Both Easy and Intermediate Ride Groups assemble at Eastbank Esplanade Madison Street Parking Lot.

2:10 PM
Both groups depart. Ride south along the esplanade to OMSI and turn onto Caruthers. Take Caruthers to the Springwater Trail and head south to Sellwood. Turn onto Umatilla and ride to SE 21st Ave. Swing onto Tacoma *Careful crossing the Hwy 99.* Immediately after crossing the highway, move into the left lane *watch for traffic* and make a left onto the access road and turn immediately right on SE Berkley Pl.
Continue along the road to the country club *slow down and carefully cross the fence track* go around the street island and continue to the trail entrance. *Either gear down or prepare to walk up the gravel stretch at the beginning of the trail*. Travel along the Springwater Corridor to SE 45th Pl. There is a restroom spot and water here. Stay on the Springwater Corridor all the way to the 205 Freeway.
Easy riders will stay on the 205 path for two blocks and take the first turnoff to SE 94th Ave. Turn left onto SE Duke and carefully cross SE 92nd Ave. Continue on Duke to 57th Ave and turn left (if you miss this just continue to 52nd and turn left) go south and take the 2nd right to Bybee. Take Bybee across 52nd and continue to SE 50th. Turn right on 50th and continue to Glenwood. Turn left on Glenwood and continue to the end. Turn right and travel north on 48th to Woodstock. Cross Woodstock and continue towards Woodstock Park. As you approach the park turn left on Ellis Street (across from the school). Continue on Ellis to SE 42nd Ave. Turn right on 42nd and continue across Holgate to Gladstone. Carefully cross 39th ave and continue to 26th ave. Turn right on 26th and carefully cross Powell. Continue on 26th to Clinton.
Turn left on Clinton and continue down Clinton all the way to SE 12th.
Cross 12th and jog left. The road bends around and meets Woodward.
Turn right on Woodward and go 2 blocks to 8th Ave. Turn right on 8th and continue to Division Pl. Turn left at Division Place and continue to the overpass. Turn right and then left at the overpass. Go underneath at Caruthers and return to the esplanade.
Intermediate riders take the I-205 path north and continue on this path *be aware that the path crosses the freeway at Burnside* until just past the I-84 freeway. *Be careful at Glison, right turning drivers do not look for cyclists. Also be careful of crossing Columbia Blvd*.
Continue on the 205 path (stay straight) all the way to Marine Drive.
Carefully cross Marine Drive and enter the path along the river. Enjoy spectacular views near the airport. Follow the Marine path west to NE 33rd Drive. At the end of the path, loop onto 33rd and turn north to Marine Drive. Continue west on Marine Drive to the highway. At the highway approach enter the bike path and pass underneath the highway.
The path returns to Marine Drive, follow that to N Portland Rd. Enter the bike path near the intersection and travel south on the path through Bybee Lakes. Follow the path as it turns under the rail bridge and shortly thereafter cross the bridge. Continue on the path to it's end at Columbia Blvd. Carefully cross Columbia Blvd and turn left on the bike path adjoining it. Turn right on Chautauqua and travel south until it ends at Willamette Blvd. Continue on Willamette around the curve and turn left on N Jessup. Continue east on Jessup to Interstate. Continue south on Interstate all the way back downtown (be aware of a steep descent). Watch the rail tracks at the steel bridge and enter the esplanade at Oregon Street. Continue south on the Esplanade to Madison PLza.

This is a good chance to test out your bicycle, safety equipment, ride clothing, and tool kits.

We recommend bringing the following gear:

Helmet
Wireless Phone
Gloves
Hooded jacket or head covering
Rain gear if necessary
Riding glasses
Tool pouch/multi-tool
Frame Pump or CO2 Inflator/Cartridges
Spare tubes/Patches
Water bottles or Hydration pack
Light Snack
Bike: (Preferrably with fenders in case of rain)

Both rides will be led by United Bicycle Institute certified mechanics; no rider left behind.

All riders will need to sign a Liability Release Agreement before departure. Under 18 riders please be accompanied by an adult.
