Forecast for this Sunday is cloudy, 30% rain, 53 deg F.

Ride Levels: Easy, Intermediate

There will be an Easy Loop nested within an Intermediate Ride.
Cyclists may join or leave the ride at any point along the path.

Ride accompanied by bike mechanics. Our club Code of Conduct asks each
member to do their best to assist other participants in need during
ride events.

Sequence of Group Ride Events on Sunday March 19th, ALL TIMES ARE

1:00 PM
Pre-ride free safety-check & mini-tune at Eastbank Esplanade Madison
Street Parking Lot. UBI certified mechanic(s) will be available with
tools & bike stand.

2:00 PM
Intermediate Ride Group assembles at Eastbank Esplanade Madison Street
Parking Lot.

2:10 PM
Intermediate Ride Group departs. Ride east along the Hawthorne Bridge
And continue along Main Street. Turn left on Broadway all the way to the 405 Fwy. CAUTION watch for traffic.
Turn left after crossing the bridge and follow the bike path which leads to SW 6th Ave. Road name becomes SW Terwilliger Blvd. Follow Terwilliger around the bend and turn left at the light. Continue on Terwilliger until we reach the summit. Enjoy a fast descent back downtown. Follow SW 6th avenue to the freeway.
CAUTION be sure to merge into the left-most lane while crossing the I-405 bridge to avoid the freeway onramp.
Follow 6th avenue to SW Madison which leads back to the Hawthorne Bridge. Take the esplanade ramp down the waterfront and meet back at Madison Plaza.

3:00 PM
The easy riders assemble at Eastbank Esplanade Madison Street Parking
Lot. New riders sign Liability Release Agreements.

3:15 PM
Both groups depart. Travel south along the esplanade to OMSI. Turn onto SE Caruthers and continue towards the train tracks. At the tracks follow the bike signs to the Springwater Trail. Take the trail all the way south to the Sellwood Bridge. Turn immediately before the bridge and ride uphill to Tacoma. CAUTION watch for other riders while traveling across the bridge.
Take the first ramp off of the bridge and follow the pedestrian path to the parking lot. Continue across to the trail and follow the trail to SW Miles PL. and take this to Willamette Park. Rest stop and bathroom opportunity here, enjoy the wonderful view. Continue through the park and follow the trail through the condo development. The trail ends at the new South Waterfront district. Take SW Moody back to downtown. Travel with care down the gravel (about 2 blocks) and continue to River Pkwy and follow the bike signs back to the esplanade. Ride north on the esplanade up to the Steel Bridge. Continue around and back south on the east side. Enjoy wonderful views of downtown while continuing along the esplanade back to Madison Plaza.


This is a good chance to test out your bicycle, safety equipment, ride
clothing, and tool kits.

We recommend bringing the following gear:

Wireless Phone
Hooded jacket or head covering
Rain gear if necessary
Riding glasses
Tool pouch/multi-tool
Frame Pump or CO2 Inflator/Cartridges
Spare tubes/Patches
Water bottles or Hydration pack
Light Snack
Bike: (Preferrably with fenders in case of rain)

Both rides will be led by United Bicycle Institute certified
mechanics; no rider left behind.

All riders will need to sign a Liability Release Agreement before
departure. Under 18 riders please be accompanied by an adult.
