We hope you’re enjoying the long weekend. And how was the Fourth of July for everyone?

We had some fun at a neighborhood party where fireworks, patriotism, and bikes combined in wonderful fashion.

Fire plus Bikes. What could be better?

I thought Ethan was all about preparing for disaster… Not creating them! 🙂 Looks like fun!

While I appreciate celebrating our nation’s birthday, I do have a problem with giving more money to China for fireworks and then trashing our environment with them. Rode through a bunch of spent fireworks in the bike lane just this morning. Probably will never get cleaned up either.

Fireworks paper debris is unsightly and a nuisance, but then there are the residues spewed into the air, across the land and into the water…

We had one of the nicest celebrations ever. My sweetie, who is not much of a bicycle rider due to deteriorating joint issues, agreed to go on a neighborhood ramble with me early in the evening before the noise and mayhem got well underway. We rode from Woodlawn to the far side of Cully, did a big loop, admired home edible gardens and chatted up their gardeners along the way, stopped to pet a couple of friendly dogs, and finished up at a gelato place before riding home. Speed and distance did not matter, and we were remind once again that you’re never too married to go out on a date now and then. Lovely.
