Welcome to our Weekend Event Guide sponsored by Hopworks Urban Brewery.

Yes, the rain is back, but the weekend forecast doesn’t look half-bad. There might even been a bit of sunshine.

As for rides and events, things are a bit quiet by Portland’s usual standards; but there are still some really fun things to do on (and off) your bike. Have a look below and start planning your weekend…

Friday, January 31st

Cycle City: A Spin on Bikes opens at Portland Children’s Museum (4015 SW Canyon Rd)

Cycle City is a new, bike-themed exhibit at the Children’s Museum that opens Friday night and runs through April 27th. Instead of buying a traveling exhibit, museum staff have worked with local bike shops, bike makers, and other partners to construct their own exhibit inspired by their love of cycling. There will be fun and interactive displays that do everything from create art from bike parts to give kids a lesson in pedal-powered electricity. More info here.

Saturday, February 1st

Urban Coffee Ride – 10:30 am (Lents Park – SE 92nd and Pardee)
This is a Portland Wheelmen Touring Club ride that will start at Lents Park and cruises for about 15-25 miles with a coffee/bakery stop along the route. More info here.

Sunday, February 2nd

Cyclocross World Championships Live on the Big Screen – 5:00 am at Portland Bicycle Studio (1435 NW Raleigh St)
Portland Bicycle Studio is just putting the final touches on their new, larger location and they’ll be showing ‘Cross Worlds live on Sunday morning. Roll over to see the new space and take in some great racing action.

Monogamous Sects Ride – 9:15 am (NE 7th and Fremont – Irving Park basketball courts)
This ride is being led by none other than Pasture Ted of Bike Temple. They’ll ride to a Lutheran Church service then ride to a tea or lunch spot afterwards to discuss the experience. The service will be held at Salt and Light, which Ted says has “changed its church building from a fully religious facility to a community center”. More info here.

Caddyshack! – 12:00 pm (6720 NE 112th Ave‎)
Join the Vancouver Bicycle Club for their 7th Annual Bill Murray tribute ride that takes a “social cruise” around the golf courses near Marine Drive. “Don’t forget your sense of humor,” say the ride organizers. More info here.

Thanks to Hopworks Urban Brewery, we’ll publish the Weekend Event Guide for your bike fun convenience every Thursday in 2014. If you know of a great bike ride or event, please drop us a line via email, Twitter, or Facebook.

We’re the only clearinghouse calendar of bike events across Oregon and our newsletter goes out to 40,000 area cyclists. We’d love to help get the word out about your event.

Hey, I’m Lutheran! I wish I were in town for that ride to Salt and Light.
