Bridge Pedal from above: An aerial photo essay revisited

Two years ago, the fine folks at Bridge Pedal gave me the opportunity to fly over the ride in a helicopter. With my camera and a five-point harness firmly buckled around me, I flew high above the iconic event and got a perspective on our city that I'll never forget.
With the 16th edition of the ride happening this Sunday, I thought it'd be fun to take a look back at what I saw...
Many people could actually see me hanging out the side of the chopper with my camera. So they smiled and waved.
Riders near the MAX tracks on N. Interstate.
If you're headed out for the ride Sunday, check out what's new this year via The Oregonian. And of course, enjoy the ride!

Awesome pics. How nice to see all those bikes on the bridges and roads than cars.
RecommendedAwesome photos! Love it.
RecommendedI'd ride it this year, but my bike's in the shop.
RecommendedNice work. As someone who is afraid of heights, I am very impressed yet nauseous.
RecommendedI wasn't sure if you had the best job ever, but am now thoroughly convinced.
RecommendedThanks for posting! Mrs Dibbly & I are doing the Bridge Pedal on Sunday and can't wait. Just me, my amazing wife, and 20,000 of our best friends.
RecommendedThe 5th big pic is featured on the route map (at least the 6 Bridge route) this year. Great pic, but I found it a little distracting they used 1 w/ a prominent suicide counseling sign. Looking forward to my 1st Bridges year.. Minneapolis has a similar great event, but it hasn't ever routed on interstate bridges (including the 1 that collapsed!)
