The “No Ridiculous Car Trips” campaign from Sweden

Posted by on October 12th, 2010 at 1:15 pm

A creative bicycling promotion campaign in Malmo, Sweden is worth our attention. According to Copenhagenize, the campaign has been “a massive success” over the past several years.

It would be very exciting if we had a similar effort going on here in Portland. Check out the excellent video below to learn more about it…

NOTE: At BikePortland, we love your comments. We love them so much that we devote many hours every week to read them and make sure they are productive, inclusive, and supportive (heck, sometimes we even fix your typos!). That doesn't mean you can't disagree with someone. It means you must do it with tact and respect. This is our business and we do not tolerate mean commenters who add nothing of value to the discussion.

Unfortunately, we are not robots and we don't always catch everything. You can help by notifying us if you see inappropriate comments. Thanks! — Jonathan and Michael

I really like 2 very innovative ideas shown in the video. #1 Railings to hang on to at traffic signals so you don’t have to put your foot down. (How about one of those at 33rd and Going?) #2 placing rain covers on seats to promote their campaign. Both simply brilliant!
