Pedalpalooza-ers, remember to be kind to neighbors

Hope everyone is enjoying Pedalpalooza. I just wanted to forward on a note regarding the Kickoff Parade last night.

When I got home from the ride I was greeted with a voice mail and an email from a women who was in Irving Park with her dog when the ride rolled up (we ended at Irving and hung out before everyone dispersed):

thanks for ending your ride in the Irvington dog park, during dog hours, leaving garbage, destroying grass and telling me to fuck off when i asked nicely “what time your event was ending” so me and my neighbors could share the in the restrictive summer dog hours. With all the rain we all need some out side time. Please speak with your large groups your creating about shared space.

Irvington resident

Just a reminder to be kind to others as it reflects on the entire Pedalpalooza event. Thanks!

hee hee, thanks Andrew. Yeah, I get quite a number of emails/phone calls from people commenting/complaining/wanting info on stuff they read here on bikeportland but that I have nothing to do with. whatever… I’m just glad to hear from them.

It’s actually for reasons like this that I’m skipping the party-themed Pedalpalooza rides this year and will try some of the smaller, more niche-oriented ones.

I’m all for celebrating bicycling and bike fun, but traffic jamming has lost its appeal to me and just seems confrontational in non-productive ways.
