The Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association, a nonprofit group that unites and promotes the booming local handmade bicycle frame industry, has announced that they will host the 2009 Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show this October in Northwest Portland.

The show will be held over Halloween weekend, Saturday October 31st and November 1st, 2009, in the Staver Locomotive Building at 2537 NW 29th Ave in Portland.

We covered the bikes, ideas, and crowds at OBCA’s last show in 2007 — check out our story and extensive photo gallery.

This year’s event will feature almost twice the number of exhibitions — up to 40 — as the 2007 event, and is open to exhibitors from Oregon and nationwide. Seminars and speakers are planned on various topics related to bike building, the industry, and bike culture.

The full schedule of events will be available at the end of September. The weekend’s festivities will include a framebuilder’s happy hour hosted by bike-friendly local restaurants and a Halloween costume party.

Not the best timing, competing with Cross Crusade Halloween weekend in Astoria. Which is super awesome, by the way.

This show is just what Portland needed to show off all of the amazing builders in this little town. This is the most exciting thing happening this year!
