First New York City, now the nation: Introducing the Streetsblog Network

The team behind the New York City-based Livable Streets Network that includes the Streetsblog.org blog, Streetfilms, and other tools, has launched their latest project — the Streetsblog Network.
The network aims to bring together and present the best online sources for transportation and livable streets content on the web, all into one place. When it launched Tuesday there were 100 blogs in the network (including BikePortland.org) and in just a few days that number has jumped to nearly 150.
The fast growth of the network mimics the exciting momentum of the livable streets movement. The folks at Livable Streets Network have been at the epicenter of that movement since they launched Streetsblog and have since matured and grown the project in many new ways.
In addition to the new Streetsblog Network, they are behind Streetswiki and a Livable Streets Group social media app. They’ve also recently launched an invite-only Livable Streets email discussion list.
The editor of Streetsblog and his team traveled to Portland for the Carfree Conference back in June and I profiled their work in a story titled, A look inside New York City’s burgeoning ‘livable streets movement’.

I geeked out on streetfilms.org for two straight rainy days! This is a branch of Streetsblog. After watching the amazing interview with NYCDOT's Janette Sadik-Khan on Bikeportland, i explored their site for more examples of intelligent infrastructure worldwide. Their filming has my mind spinning with ideas. Videos on Bus Rapid Transit in Paris, Bogota, Boulder, and L.A. Films of Cilclovia, the inspiration that Bogota gave us for Sundays Parkways. Paris shares with us their bike sharing program and the twice weekly Paris Roller, where thousands of folks rollerskate and rollerblade around the streets with a rollerblading police escort! They have glowing films of Portland. They also have great shorts describing traffic engineering tools such as Leading Pedestrian Interval! Diagonal crosswalks, chicanes, and more. Just wanted to share how much there is to learn from their sweet films.
